Here’s Jon ‘reflecting’ on a brilliant afternoon at Edgebaston Stadium. :D

The flying potter was facilitating a breakout session at Children At The HEART, Early Years Spring Conference hosted by Birmingham Early Years Networks.

Delegates got to doodle, wear and play with their clay…doing all the things you wouldn’t expect with the stuff. A fab, inspirational and fun session.

We get to work at some amazing venues and the conferencing facilities at the Cricket ground were second to none.

You get to make tonnes and tonnes of pots on our one day potter’s wheel course – way too many to fire and glaze.

At the end of the session we ask participants to choose their favourite 2-3 pots for the kiln, the rest get ‘recycled’.

Occasionally, participants are drawn to the pile of soft, rejected pots and a certain amount of re-modelling goes on! Jeff couldn’t resist the draw of the slops pile and the creative possibilities of re-working it. The result reminds me of something though…cant quite put my finger on it!?

Family Pottery Fun For Half Term

GLAMPING!

1 & 2 June 2021

We’re delighted to announce details of our fun and creative sessions for families in the approaching half term holiday.

GLAMPING provides the inspiration and participants young and old get to model bespoke and desirable holiday accommodation from squidgy soft clay.

It might be a shepherds hut, yurt, vintage caravan or bell tent – we’ll show you the basic technique then it’s up to you what you do!

The creative fun does not stop there either. As soon as you have finished modelling your getaway you can paint your creations with coloured underglazes and slips.

What with restrictions and uncertainty surrounding overseas travel, a lot of UK holiday makers will be looking to stay closer to home. What better way to start getting excited about your Summer vacation than realising your dream holiday accommodation in clay!

The work will need to dry thoroughly before it’s fired and glazed. This whole process takes about a month and you’ll be contacted once your pottery has emerged from the kiln. If customers are unable to collect their masterpieces, P+P can be arranged at £5 per model.

1.5 hr sessions commence at 9.30am, 11.30am and 2pm and places cost £20 per person. Places can be booked online by visiting www.eastnorpottery.co.uk or telephoning 01531 633886 or emailing admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk

NB All children need to be accompanied by at least one fee paying adult.
