About
Experienced hands
We have over 30 years experience of working with adults, young people and children, sharing our passion for pottery with tens of thousands. Through skillful facilitation and a lot of laughter, we aim to enhance the lives of those we have the privilege to work with.
Visit Our Idyllic Studio
We established Eastnor Pottery in 1994. Originally, we needed workshop space and were offered a charming, redundant cottage on the Eastnor Castle Estate. As our reputation and practice grew, we expanded next door, purchased more equipment and began to share our magical space with others.
Flying Potter – We can come to you
Unable to visit us on the Eastnor Castle Estate? No problem. All the benefits, materials and equipment can be transported to a venue of your choice. We travel all over the place working in schools and community settings. The Flying Potter mobile studio also delivers to libraries, museums, art galleries, conference centres and festivals.
At the end of the session your clay creations can be transported back to our studio to be fired and returned a few weeks later. The fired outcome serves as a permanent reminder of a brilliant day.
Introducing the artists
So here we are! Sarah Monk and Jon Williams founders and co directors of Eastnor Pottery. We met as young art students studying ceramics in Bath. Our eyes met over the potter’s wheel and the rest as they say….. As well as sharing our passion and enthusiasm for pottery with others we are makers in our own right, exhibiting and selling our unique designs. Check out our individual brands.

What a lovely weekend! I braved a solo trip for this course and felt welcome and part of the group from the outset. I’m looking forward to receiving my three finished pieces once they have been fired. All being well I have two useable mugs and a bowl to show for my weekend. For the weekend course each potter has their own wheel, a very generous amount of clay to work with (you’re not going to run out) and the perfect combination of instruction, demonstration, support and freedom to find what works for you. Up to the point of adding colour the clay is completely recyclable so you can afford to experiment and make mistakes. It’s great to see that resources aren’t being wasted.
Whilst I am generally quite crafty, I am not necessarily artistic and I’m definitely very heavy handed. Pottery did not come naturally to me and I definitely felt that I was significantly behind my fellow potters. Jon & Sarah and all of the other potters were supportive and encouraging. At the end of the weekend I lined up my finished pieces to take a photo before heading off, without everyone else’s work to compare against I suddenly had a real sense of achievement.
Definitely go on this course. Go with the intention of experiencing something new in a really friendly and supportive environment. If you can, don’t compare your work to everyone else’s. Perhaps you’ll be amazing at it, perhaps you’ll be terrible but have a good chuckle at your mistakes, you’ll probably reach a new found respect for the Pottery Showdown contestants either way!Ali M

We went for the 1.5 hour session in the summer and really enjoyed it so booked on a weekend course in November. Jon and Sarah are just great hosts and teachers of the wheel! Whatever you produce it’s such a fun time and while you’re working it’s impossible to think of anything else so by default, relaxing. I’d highly recommend it.
I can’t wait to receive my pots in a few weeks 🙂Kristy
