Family Pottery Fun in ½ term

HALF TERM HEDGEHOGS

26th & 27th October 2021

We’re delighted to announce details of our fun pottery sessions for families in the rapidly approaching October ½ term holiday.

Hedgehogs provide the inspiration for the autumnal clay fueled creativity.

Participants of all ages and abilities will each make a terracotta hedgehog using the hand modelling pinch-pot technique. They will also be encouraged to paint their creations with a creamy white slip – perfect for scratching through to reveal the raw terracotta clay underneath. Connoisseurs of the clay arts will know this technique as sgraffito, a very satisfying and fun method of pottery decoration.

The hedgehogs will be fired, glazed and ready for collection from the Pottery one month later. Don’t worry if you are unable to collect, P+P is available at £5 per item.

1.5 hr sessions commence at 9.30am, 11.30am and 2pm and cost £20 per person. Under 12’s must be accompanied by at least one fee paying adult. Places can be booked online by visiting our website page dedicated to clay modelling (scroll down to the orange button!) or calling 01531 633886.

Family Pottery Fun For Half Term

GLAMPING!

1 & 2 June 2021

We’re delighted to announce details of our fun and creative sessions for families in the approaching half term holiday.

GLAMPING provides the inspiration and participants young and old get to model bespoke and desirable holiday accommodation from squidgy soft clay.

It might be a shepherds hut, yurt, vintage caravan or bell tent – we’ll show you the basic technique then it’s up to you what you do!

The creative fun does not stop there either. As soon as you have finished modelling your getaway you can paint your creations with coloured underglazes and slips.

What with restrictions and uncertainty surrounding overseas travel, a lot of UK holiday makers will be looking to stay closer to home. What better way to start getting excited about your Summer vacation than realising your dream holiday accommodation in clay!

The work will need to dry thoroughly before it’s fired and glazed. This whole process takes about a month and you’ll be contacted once your pottery has emerged from the kiln. If customers are unable to collect their masterpieces, P+P can be arranged at £5 per model.

1.5 hr sessions commence at 9.30am, 11.30am and 2pm and places cost £20 per person. Places can be booked online by visiting www.eastnorpottery.co.uk or telephoning 01531 633886 or emailing admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk

NB All children need to be accompanied by at least one fee paying adult.

So nice to be getting back to what we love and do best – working with you lovely lot! :)

We’ve had a fantastic first week delivering clay modelling sessions for families and Introduction to the Potters Wheel classes for adults. And as for the weather – WOW! We’ve been delivering our session alfresco style in our magnificent Potting Tent Marquee on the Pottery lawn so the Spring sunshine has been more than welcome.

Participants have been lovely and have thoroughly enjoyed their time with us…and if you needed further proof, just look at this positive review left by Roche earlier in the week:

My husband and I had our first go on a potter’s wheel with Jon today. The experience was brilliant (and very much as the great reviews describe). Jon was friendly and professional. He pitched the explanations and help at exactly the right level for us newbies who had never done anything like this before. We laughed and had a lot of fun and even ended up with pots that we’re looking forward to having in our home :-D The whole experience was exceptionally well done from a COVID point of view too – very clear instructions and very well spaced out. We felt safe and the only reminders of a pandemic were the visors and masks. It really was a fab time. Thanks Jon and Sarah!

We’ve just reached 2000 followers on Instagram. Hurrah!

To celebrate this mini-landmark, we organised a prize draw with a Clay Modelling experience for a family of four as the giveaway prize. (value £80)

To enter, participants had to ‘like’ the post promoting the giveaway, follow our @eastnorpottery account and finally tag a friend. Entrants could use one tag per comment but with no restriction on the number of comments – the more tags, the better chance of winning!

We had over 170 entries and congratulations to @minkylucy who was first out of the hat!

The 1.5hr  fun sessions take place 13 & 14 April and are entitled ‘Egg-straordinary Eggcups’

Families get to sample a whole range of clay modelling skills to produce their very own and totally unique eggcup. They’ll be rolling, pinching and flattening the soft clay to create their eggcups and once they’ve been constructed, they’ll also have the opportunity to paint them. A palette of brightly coloured underglazes will be available to brush onto their marvelous, clay creations.

The masterpieces will be left at the Pottery to be fired and glazed and ready for collection from the Pottery a few weeks later. P+P can be arranged at £5 per egg-cup for those who are unable to collect their work.

We will be working outside in our lovely Potting Tent Marquee on the Pottery lawn. Although we are blessed with ample studio space we are currently unable to accommodate spectators and ‘helpers’. All children must be accompanied by a fee paying adult.

As you might expect in these socially distanced times, places are limited to x8 participants per session so early booking is advised. Places can be purchased online, via email admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk or over the phone: 01531 633886
