Gorgeous Flower Bricks

Check out the variety of these beautiful flower bricks made on our Family Clay modelling sessions in the February half term.

Every one’s a winner…

composite image of x4 ceramic cubed flower bricks made on a family pottery workshop at eastnor pottery. Each piece is very different from each other. A variety of colours and design. There are small yellow primroses in some of the bricks.

How were they made?

Each participant started by rolling out a large slab of terracotta clay. We then provided a pattern of custom made cardboard templates. These were placed onto the slabs and the potters of all ages cut around the templates to produce x2 sides, x2 ends, a top and base.

Softly assembled

Using their super fine motor skills, participants squished the soft slabs together into a cube without denting the structure too much… Although we love the effect when soft slabs are assembled – it affords the finished piece a freshness and vitality.

Now the fun part!

Everybody personalised their bricks by adding modelled clay detail and applying underglaze paints. We adore this rabbit design and as for the orange and white chicken!!!

We’ve had some lovely feedback from participants, so much so we’re going to repeat the project. If you fancy making one of these, book into our Clay Modelling session on SATURDAY 31 MAY 2025. Visit our CLAY MODELLING page for more details and to start the booking process.
