Clay in the classroom

The opportunity to model & mark a soft, malleable material is vital, not only for children’s self expression and creativity but in all aspects of their learning and well being. Working with clay develops literacy, numeracy, language and communication. Through skilful facilitation, we aim to enhance the lives of all the children and adults we have the pleasure to work with.

Jon came to do some workshops with our year 8 students during our annual activities week. All students (& staff) were thoroughly engaged and delighted to watch and listen intently to Jons entertaining and informative demonstration and then they each had a go at both hand modelling and making a small pot on the potter’s wheel.
Everyone enjoyed the fantastic morning and we will definitely book a workshop again!

Jon came to our school at Lapworth- absolutely superb. He inspired and engaged the children from the off, the workshop was pitched so well for them (Year 6 in the morning, Year 2 in the afternoon) and we will absolutely welcome him back whenever we can- thank you, Jon!
