What is Find a Maker :

Along the way, they have gathered a loyal and knowledgeable audience of followers that love and appreciate skilfully, handmade objects. They have created another way connect their audience with a curated collection of the finest makers, regardless of where they are based.
Sarah has been a member of Find a Maker since it’s launch in 2021 and she can be found in their fantastic curated makers directory. See Sarah’s page here!
This week Sarah has been joining in with ‘Find a Maker Week’ over on her Instagram page and has been sharing her practise, some behind the scenes moments and gift ideas.

The first prompt for the week was called ‘This is Me’. We thought it would be nice to share with you what Sarah wrote….
This is me!
“Hello! It’s #findamakerweek hurrah! I’m Sarah Monk , a slipware potter from Herefordshire Here I am at Eastnor Pottery which I share with fellow potter, Jon Williams & we’ve been potting here for 31 years!(we met on the BA ceramics @bathspauni many moons ago… eyes met over the potter’s wheels) Now we share our time between teaching our potter’s wheel classes and making our own studio ceramics.
You can come to Eastnor Pottery for a 1.5 hour Intro to the Potters Wheel Class, a Potter’s Wheel Day or a Weekend Wheel Course. We see on average 40 participants a week and we have a lot of fun!! When we’re not doing that, we get stuck into our own making
We also have three grown up children, who are all creatives (but no potters, lol) … our daughter Lottie is a dance facilitator with the amazing Baked Bean Charity, doing what she loves doing most in the whole world, dance! The most recent show she choreographed was called ‘The Things We’ve Lost’ and was performed at The Royal Academy of Dance, London back in May 2025. It was incredible!
Our boys Jacob and Elliot are also following their dreams as producers of dark/minimal drum n bass, garage plus a bit of 140. They’re called Dubruvvas and are based in Bristol (as you can imagine, I don’t get to see their gigs often as they seem to start after 11pm).
We all enjoy creative things. It’s important to follow your dreams don’t you think? (we certainly have)
I love being part of Find a Maker and I’m looking forward to hosting a ‘Find a Maker Family Gathering’ on Friday 20th February 2026 here at Eastnor Pottery. I’m even going to run a fun potter’s wheel class for members… can’t wait!”
