People of all ages celebrate their birthdays with us here at Eastnor Pottery & The Flying Potter.
Helen and her family opted for our 1.5hr shared potter’s wheel experience to mark her 30th. The six adults took turns on the wheel, each person making three or four pots. Those resting from the wheel offered words of encouragement or simply giggled at their potting partners, wrestling with the spinning clay. One thing was certain, and everybody agreed, the activity made for a great spectator sport!
We’ll fire and glaze the party’s pots ready for the group to collect in a month’s time, the ceramic keepsakes serving as a permanent reminder of Josie’s special day.
Children’s Pottery sessions in half term. Wed 30 May 2018
We are delighted to announce details of our fun and creative children’s workshop sessions scheduled for the approaching half term holiday.
Superhero is the exciting and inspirational theme.
It doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll be encouraging the children to make Marvel Comic inspired characters (although who can fail to be impressed by the powers of Ironman or The Hulk!) We’ll also be encouraging the young clay enthusiasts to consider Superheros closer to home. We’re thinking mums, dads, grandparents, teachers or some other figure they admire or look up to.
Once the children have modelled their superheros using a range of pottery making techniques, they will have the opportunity to paint their creations, there and then with coloured slips and underglazes.
The resulting work will need to dry thoroughly before it can be fired in the kiln. We allow approximately one month for this process and details of collection times will be issued on the day of the workshop.
1.5 hr sessions commence at 11.30am and 2pm and are tailored for two age groups: 4-8yrs in the morning and 9-12yrs in the afternoon. Although, these age ranges are not strictly adhered to as younger and older siblings are always welcome to participate on either session.
Places cost £15 per head with a 10% discount for x3 or more places booked. Telephone and email booking essential: Tel: 01531 633886 e: email@example.com
We hosted our first ever pottery hen party over 20 years ago having been approached by a brides maid looking for a creative hen party activity for an arty hen.
We were (and still are) always up for a challenge and said ‘yes’ without too much hesitation. It just sounded like such an interesting, novel and fun preposition.
Little did we anticipate at the time, hen parties would become such a huge (and hugely enjoyable!) part of our workshop offer.
Here are a few photos from Claire’s particularly lovely pottery hen party experience we facilitated Autumn 2017. The girls made and painted coil pot goblets which looked stunning once they had been fired and glazed.
We recently collaborated with the whole of Broadwas Primary School in Worcestershire to produce this brilliant tile panel interpretation of their school emblem.
Each pupil made an individual tile from soft clay before adding detail and painting in coloured slip.
We transported all 100 tiles back to the Pottery to be fired, glazed and returned to the school for ready for installation earlier this year.
The panel is mounted on the outside of the school near the entrance, welcoming pupils and visitors and serving as an excellent reminder of what can be achieved when everybody works together.
…and, if you study the school’s website banner photo roll for long enough, you’ll see our very own Jon the Potter facilitating a potter’s wheel assembly!
If you’ve got something worth celebrating then come and celebrate it with us!
We have over 20 years experience of working with families and groups of friends, celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and reunions.
Many of the workshops are inter-generational and it’s common for x3 generations of the same family to work alongside each other in the creative calm of the studio. Group size is never an issue and we have the space and equipment to accommodate 30 children or 20 adults in one sitting.
As well as creating treasured memories on the day of your workshop, your clay creations can be fired and glazed, making for a permanent reminder of your fun time together in Eastnor.
Here are some photos from several group bookings, all taking place on the same Saturday in January.
If you have something to celebrate or are looking for a creative activity for your get-together, please call 01531 633886 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your ideas.
