What do you get a loved one who has everything?
The experience market has positively blossomed in recent years as we all attempt to fill our leisure time with meaningful and very often creative activities.
It’s no surprise then we’ve seen more and more individuals and families gifting each other pottery experience vouchers for birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas.
Aspiring potters and visitors to our Herefordshire studio are not only creating a tangible object to be proud of, the process of making has therapeutic benefits too. Co-coordinating eye, hand and speed of the potter’s wheel leaves very little mental capacity to dwell on anything other than the task in hand – quite literally! All that other ‘stuff’ fizzing around participants heads fades away and a state of mindfulness ensues – just like meditating!
Workshop participants are also making memories. Our staff strive to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, perfect for friends and family to catch-up and unwind and get their creative juices flowing. The expert guidance and positive facilitation enable visitors to thrive and create that ‘special’ piece or family heirloom. Once it has been fired and glazed, the artifact serves as a permanent reminder of time spent together doing something creative and ultimately rewarding.
We offer gift vouchers to whatever value you would like to spend. For instance, a £20 experience will enable the lucky maker to throw a pot on the wheel, decorate it with coloured slip and then leave it to be fired and glazed. A voucher to the value of £130 will enable the recipient to play with clay on the potter’s wheel for a whole day, inclusive of a delicious lunch.
All in all, making pottery is good for you and what better way to show your appreciation for a loved one than presenting them with an Eastnor Pottery Experience Voucher this Christmas.
You can purchase our vouchers online, right here.
Very fond of the class of 22nd September 2018
Seven nicer individuals you’d be hard pressed to meet, spent the day learning how to make pottery on the potter’s wheel. It was a productive day with everybody filling their boards with fantastic shapes and forms, in fact we’ve never seen the pile of disregarded ‘learning’ pots look so small.
At the close, we ask participants to select their two or three favorite pieces to be fired, glazed and posted out in a months time. A difficult task at the best of times but made even harder by the sheer volume of super shapes. Most people couldn’t bare to part with their creations and payed the extra to have them finished in the kiln.
If you fancy spending a day behind the wheel please take a look at our web page dedicated to our one day and weekend courses. £130 for the day and £240 for the weekend.
We are delighted to announce details of our fun and creative themed workshop sessions for children in the October half term.
CHOCTOBERFEST borrows from the Bavarian festival of all things beer but given a much more age appropriate spin!
Participants will use proper clay to make and paint a hot chocolate mug using the coil-pot technique. The creations will be left with us to be fired and glazed so when the young potter’s collect their creations from the studio approx. one month later, they’ll be able to drink hot chocolate and marshmallows from them.
There’s nothing quite so satisfying as drinking from a cup or mug made by your own fair hand. Sarah the potter has been making fun and functional tableware for 30 years and still gets a kick from using one of her own creations. It’ll be lovely for the children on a chilly autumnal evening to wrap their hands around a steaming cup of cocoa knowing they’ve hand crafted it.
The workshops designed for children as young as 4 years take place on two consecutive Wednesdays to account for the different half terms. Gloucestershire will get to potter on the 24th and Hereford & Worcester on the 31st.
1.5 hr sessions commence at 11.30am and 2pm and are tailored for two age groups: 4-8yrs in the mornings and 9-12yrs in the afternoons. These age ranges are designed as a rough guide and are not strictly adhered to as younger and older siblings are always welcome to participate on either session.
Places cost £15 per head with a 10% discount for x3 or more places booked. Telephone and email booking essential: Tel: 01531 633886 e: firstname.lastname@example.org
The end of the school summer holidays heralds a new group of visitors to the Shire!
Couples and groups of adults descend on the county to enjoy the beautiful Autumnal scenery, the bustling market towns and idyllic villages.
Most of them book an activity of some description to punctuate their visit, and, it appears pottery is high on their list of adventures!
If you are planning a rural, creative break in Herefordshire then please check out our dedicated website page for couples and small groups.
Sarah and her family celebrated her birthday in potter’s wheel style!
The group took advantage of our fabulous 1.5hr shared potter’s wheel experience and made some super pots and shapes. We’ll fire and glaze their pottery creations, ready for collection from the studio in a few weeks time. The pots will serve as a permanent and unique reminder of her special day.
Happy Birthday Sarah!
