The Pottery is situated on the Eastnor Castle country estate, close to the Malvern Hills and amidst the idyllic Herefordshire countryside. The perfect environment to unwind, learn a new skill and discover hidden talents.
Perfect stress relieving activity.
The therapeutic benefits of working with soft clay on the potter’s wheel are considerable. Participants often leave the studio on Sunday afternoon feeling totally de-stressed and with an overwhelming sense of well-being. “I feel like I’ve spent a weekend at a health farm!” commented a recent punter.
Everybody can do it
There are no mistakes in pottery, just happy accidents and learning experiences! The positive and inclusive nature of the instruction means everybody achieves amazing results.
Small friendly class sizes
We are currently limiting the class size to six participants to account for social distancing. This ensures even more individual attention and guidance from your pottery hosts.

One Day Course – £150
The workshop starts at 10am. After introductions and initial demonstration, you’ll be individually assigned a potter’s wheel for the duration of the workshop. The group will be guided, step by step, through the pot throwing process. Once you have got the hang of things, you will be encouraged to develop at your own pace with individual tutoring as and when required. We break for lunch around 1pm. (Please bring a packed lunch) We’ll stop for an hour but you are very welcome to take a shorter break and get straight back on to the wheel for untutored practice. In the afternoon there are further demonstrations after which you will work larger lumps of clay, make bigger pots and explore different shapes and forms. We conclude the workshop by cleaning the wheels and selecting between one and three pieces to be fired and glazed. (Weight dependent – extra pots can be fired at £6 per 250 g, payable on the day) The course ends at 4pm. (If you are participating in the two day course your pots will be left to slightly harden over night so you can work on them the following morning)
Your fabulous creations will be left with us to dry thoroughly before they go into the kiln. Once they have been fired and glazed, we‟ll carefully wrap and dispatch your finished pots to your home address. You will be delighted at the professional results when they arrive on your doorstep approximately one month later.
Weekend Course – £280
Day 1
As One Day Course.
Day 2
10am. Your pots from Saturday are now ‘leather-hard’ and ready to be trimed. After further demonstrations you will learn how to add foot-rings, join handles and attach other motifs. After lunch and once you have experimented with the techniques, you will select between one and four of your favourite pots, depending on size, and paint them using under-glazes and decorating slips. (Extra pots can be fired at £6 per 250 g, payable on the day.) The weekend concludes at 4pm.
