*COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS & WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU*
We’ll be asking you to arrive no earlier than 5 mins before your session starts.
Due to social distancing we are currently unable to admit spectators and helpers. All children must be accompanied by a fee paying adult.
We’ve set up the furniture to account for the 2m social distancing rule and will be observing social distancing through-out your session.
We’ll be wearing perspex visors. Please bring your own face mask to be worn inside the Pottery at all times.
On arrival, you’ll be directed to a waiting area and asked to wash your hands. Your experience will commence once the previous participants have departed and we’ve had opportunity to clean tools, brushes and work surfaces.
Please bring your own aprons or painting shirts. The clay doesn’t stain and washes out easily so alternatively, wearing old clothes is perfectly acceptable too.
Please bring and old towel for hand washing.
If for any reason you or anyone from your household feels unwell on the day of your session, please do not attend. We can re-schedule your experience at a mutually agreeable time in the future.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Next sessions take place 16 & 17 February 2021 Theme TBC
Places are limited due to covid restrictions so early booking online is advised. Click on the button below to purchase your places. All children must be accompanied by a fee paying adult (sorry we don’t have the space for spectators and helpers)
The Benefits:
Experience ‘hands on’ real clay and an exciting variety of hand modelling making techniques.
Small friendly groups ensure maximum attention from our experienced staff, always on hand to guide and offer advice.
Big emphasis on having fun and learning via enjoyment.
Fantastic fired results every time. Your clay masterpiece will be fired and glazed, spending four days in the kiln. You’ll be totally amazed at the professional, ceramic quality of your creative efforts when they emerge from the fire!
What to bring with you
Please wear a face mask at all times in the Pottery.
Please wear appropriate clothing or an old painting shirt/apron. The clay doesn’t stain and washes out easily but some of the ceramic paints can be a bit stubborn.
An old towel for hand washing.
This is how it works:
For the time being, we’re keeping class sizes to a minimum to allow for social distancing. Through out the Autumn and Winter we will be working inside and although we are blessed with ample studio space we are currently unable to accommodate spectators and ‘helpers’. All children must be accompanied by a fee paying adult.
On arrival you will be guaranteed a warm welcome from your professional pottery hosts. You’ll then settle down to watch a demonstration from your assigned potter before getting stuck into the clay yourself.
You’ll each be given a lump of clay to make your sculpture and encouraged to work independently, but don’t worry, your professional potter will be close (but not too close!) at hand to offer guidance and advice if you get a bit stuck.
Once all members of your group have a ‘creation’ to show for their efforts, you’ll have the opportunity to paint your freshly made masterpiece in coloured under-glazes.
Your creation will need to dry before it’s fired and glazed. This process takes about a month, after which your fabulous ceramic item will be ready for collection from the Pottery. P+P can be arranged at £5 per item.
Please allow 1.5hrs for the whole experience.
