9th wedding anniversary gift

these two made pots on the potter's wheel for each other to celebrate their 9th wedding anniversaryDid you know that the traditional 9th wedding anniversary gift is the gift of pottery? Jonathan did and secretly arranged a pottery wheel surprise for himself and his wife Helen.

Although the couple observe the yearly list – (last year it was bronze and quite independently purchased each other a bottle of bronze tanning lotion!) their day at Eastnor Pottery was probably their most extravagant anniversary purchase to date.

“We never ever normally do anything like this, ever” exclaimed Helen. Well I reckon the pair aught to rethink their pottery intake as they both made some cracking pots on the potter’s wheels. More photos.

A happy customer

“My partner and I booked a potters’ wheel make and paint session last minute after seeing a flyer for the pottery in a local tea room. I had done one session on a wheel previously but my partner had no experience at all. Booking over the phone with John was very easy. The pottery itself is well sign -posted with its own car park and is beautifully decorated and set up to create a warm, calming and welcoming atmosphere. As soon as we entered the pottery we were warmly welcomed by Sarah and then Jack, and even given complimentary tea and coffee in mugs produced at the pottery while we had a look at others’ work and thought about what we wanted to make. For the session on the wheel, we worked 1-2-1 with Jack who was a friendly and patient teacher and really put us as ease. He also helped me to correct a small “wobble” in my pot. Following this we were given a selection of underglazes to paint our pots with (and some more tea and coffee!) and shown how to achieve different finishes with the glazes. We were left in peace to relax and enjoy painting our creations. We can’t wait to collect them in about a month’s time and see the end result. We cannot recommend Eastnor Pottery highly enough: the friendliness and welcome of the staff, the quality of the teaching, the environment and the value for money are faultless. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience which was my favourite part of our holiday :)” Sophie
