“Both my children have had pottery parties at Eastnor Pottery, yesterday it was my son’s 9th birthday party. Children aged from 4 to almost 11 attended and all had an excellent time. Most of the children had either been to the pottery before, or had met Jon through his work with local schools.
Jon kept things moving and interesting with his blend of patience, humour and enthusiasm. I would recommend Eastnor Pottery for an interesting, creative and above all fun time.”
“Pottery in the countryside – I’ve just got back to London after two blissful days learning to throw a pots, turn and glaze them. Under the patient and unhurried tutelage of Jon Williams, the owner, I’m soon to be the proud owner of six pots, plates and bowls (once they’ve dried out and ready to fire). Eastnor Pottery is set within the glorious grounds of Eastnor Castle and near the lovely market town of Ledbury.
I think I’m more relaxed after this pottery workshop than I would have been after a spa weekend. It’s hugely absorbing and very light-hearted, yet I feel that I’ve learned a lot about ceramics over a weekend and now have a more than basic grasp on making both useful and decorative pots. Jon’s patience is unflappable, the tea, coffee and biscuits keep coming and your head empties of boring things like work. Can’t wait to get back to the wheel!”
“THANK YOU JON. We have just had a brilliant afternoon at Eastnor Pottery, celebrating Kalata’s 11th birthday with all of her friends. I had attended a birthday party for 5 year olds earlier in the year and I was impressed with how Jon engaged the children, he was just as brilliant with a group of rising 11 year olds ( and a couple of teenagers thrown in for good measure). The commemorative Jug the whole group made is a MUST, a lovely keepsake to remind Kalata of her birthday party and her friends from Primary School. All the children then had a turn to throw a pot and turn it into a creation of their choice; from surfing dudes to a Octopus in a bath, Pirates to the Owl and the Pussycat in a boat. 2 hours of arty excellence, definitely recommended….MANY THANKS!!”
“Not just for kids! I celebrated my 30th birthday at Eastnor Pottery and a group of friends. It was an awesome day out, and we’ll all get to take home our creations once fired. Jon’s an articulate and fun teacher and his assistant, Gemma, was very welcoming with tips and hot drinks on hand. We all had a turn on the Potter’s Wheel and made a collaborative jug which will be a memento of a great birthday bash in a quirky, creative place. Great surroundings and easy to find, too. ”
“Excellent experience – great fun”
We popped in for a session with Jon, and we’re really impressed by the whole set up. There is a really friendly atmosphere in the pottery, and we felt we were treated like friendly visitors rather than customers, which was lovely.
The chance to chose between various different projects provides an excellent choice of tasks either for the experienced or novice. I’ve never seen my fiancée concentrate so hard on anything, and Jon was obviously knowledgeable, but also let you get on with your creativity.
Well worth a visit either if you are a pottery fan, or are simply passing by and want something to do.
“Eastnor Pottery a great experience for any age”
Well, not only did I get hooked on Throwing Clay, during my first visit to Eastnor Pottery, but I also had a great day with two of the most patient and inspiring pottery tutors around….they also created a brilliant lunch for us all and we had a lot of fun……..an experience not to be missed
We decided to take our 8 year old and 5 year old here over half term. What a brilliant experience they had – they were taught the basics of pottery and learned some great techniques. Then put it into practice making some amazing Darleks. All in all an interesting, fun and creative way to spend the morning. Will be back as soon as we can
“Creative day out for all the family”
I had been here before on a hen do and thoroughly enjoyed myself, so suggested it for my 6 yr old daughter’s birthday treat. She LOVED it. Ethan was very helpful and patient and showed her how to make her pot on the wheel + how to make our pinch pots. A brill creative day out. Can’t wait to see what the monster, elephant and Ratty look like after firing. Thanks to all, highly recommended.

“THE highlight of the summer holidays”
I can’t recommend Eastnor Pottery highly enough. I took my four-year-old to a family session (book in advance) and without a doubt it was the highlight of her summer holiday. She was utterly captivated by Jon’s words of encouragement and the inspiring studio environment. We could have stayed all day! Jon made us very welcome and the relaxed yet purposeful atmosphere was ideal for allowing mini potters (and their parents!) to get stuck in and let their imaginations run free. We will definitely be back soon.
“Fantastic Hen Party!!”
I organised a hen party for my best friend/sister-in-law to be at Eastnor Pottery which was a huge success. Every stage of the hen party was great – from easy organisation and communication from Jon (the owner) to an absolutely fantastic morning yesterday!! Jon was so welcoming and the potter’s wheel was so much fun! It was absolutely brilliant and everyone enjoyed it so much. Thank you for being such a great host Jon and for your excellent teaching! It was absolutely perfect and just what Amy wanted to do. I personally absolutely loved it too and I definitely want to do more now, I’ll have to see if I can find any pottery classes or something, and I can’t wait to see our masterpieces when they come back from the kiln! Thanks again, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to anyone – it is well worth the money and more, I could have easily stayed all day! Hopefully see you again soon for some more pottery..
