Big thank you to all the lovely potters who took part in our GLAMPING clay modelling sessions for families. You’re all clay superstars and your creations are going to look so cool once they emerge from the kiln. Lovely to catch-up with Bubbles Nursery too!

Family Pottery Fun For Half Term

1 & 2 June 2021

We’re delighted to announce details of our fun and creative sessions for families in the approaching half term holiday.

GLAMPING provides the inspiration and participants young and old get to model bespoke and desirable holiday accommodation from squidgy soft clay.

It might be a shepherds hut, yurt, vintage caravan or bell tent – we’ll show you the basic technique then it’s up to you what you do!

The creative fun does not stop there either. As soon as you have finished modelling your getaway you can paint your creations with coloured underglazes and slips.

What with restrictions and uncertainty surrounding overseas travel, a lot of UK holiday makers will be looking to stay closer to home. What better way to start getting excited about your Summer vacation than realising your dream holiday accommodation in clay!

The work will need to dry thoroughly before it’s fired and glazed. This whole process takes about a month and you’ll be contacted once your pottery has emerged from the kiln. If customers are unable to collect their masterpieces, P+P can be arranged at £5 per model.

1.5 hr sessions commence at 9.30am, 11.30am and 2pm and places cost £20 per person. Places can be booked online by visiting or telephoning 01531 633886 or emailing

NB All children need to be accompanied by at least one fee paying adult.

Meet our exceptionally creative Mother and Daughter makers of the week – Jean and Elizabeth! The pair took part on a recent Potter’s Wheel Weekend Course and volunteered to be our Makers of the Week!

Why did you visit the pottery?

J: “Originally it was a birthday present – we have done a few classes together in the past, one making Christmas wreaths! We wanted to do something together and more than anything, make a memory.”

What do you do when you’re not potting?

E: “The family business! Mum set up her interior design business 38 years ago, and now I’ve taken up the reins. Mum still takes an active role but in more of a semi-retired capacity.”

Jean, a self taught sewer started out with a single singer sewing machine! (Easy for us to say!) She describes herself as ‘soft furnishing assembler’ and built the business solely on reputation and word of mouth. Elizabeth took over 6 years ago, and quickly made a name for herself working with architects and businesses to create fantastic interiors.

What’s the best bit about your pottery experience?

J: “Unlike past experiences we’ve taken part in, this offers us the chance to take something home that reminds us of our lovely time here at the studio.  After day one we left with big smiles on our faces – we thought and talked about our pots all night and were very excited to come back for day two. We have created a memory and something we’ll never forget…..the pots are a bonus!”

Thank you Jean and Elizabeth! :) we loved having you around the Pottery and your ‘memories’ will be posted to you as soon as they’re out of the kiln

So nice to be getting back to what we love and do best – working with you lovely lot! :)

We’ve had a fantastic first week delivering clay modelling sessions for families and Introduction to the Potters Wheel classes for adults. And as for the weather – WOW! We’ve been delivering our session alfresco style in our magnificent Potting Tent Marquee on the Pottery lawn so the Spring sunshine has been more than welcome.

Participants have been lovely and have thoroughly enjoyed their time with us…and if you needed further proof, just look at this positive review left by Roche earlier in the week:

My husband and I had our first go on a potter’s wheel with Jon today. The experience was brilliant (and very much as the great reviews describe). Jon was friendly and professional. He pitched the explanations and help at exactly the right level for us newbies who had never done anything like this before. We laughed and had a lot of fun and even ended up with pots that we’re looking forward to having in our home :-D The whole experience was exceptionally well done from a COVID point of view too – very clear instructions and very well spaced out. We felt safe and the only reminders of a pandemic were the visors and masks. It really was a fab time. Thanks Jon and Sarah!
