Andy's 60th Birthday Party Group at Eastnor PotteryWe do our fair share of children’s birthday parties here at Eastnor Pottery. However, on saturday we had the pleasure of hosting a ‘grown up’ pottery party for Andy and his guests. Apparently, Andy was celebrating his 60th birthday, although he could have quite easily passed the event off as his 50th (what’s your secret Andy?!) and wanted to treat his guests to a unique experience – something really different.

No less than 19 party goers enjoyed making pots on the potter’s wheel as well as constructing and painting some pretty cool coil pots.

Some of the group were under the impression the three hour workshop was purely a clay experience and the only thing they would be making was a mess! They were genuinely surprised at their creative clay outpourings and thrilled at the prospect of recieving ceramic keep sakes in a few weeks time. Have a look at the results in our Facebook album.

If you have something to celebrate or comemorate as a clay experience please contact the Pottery. Tel 01531 633886 or email admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk

pottery session for friends at eastnor potteryFour friends from Ledbury took advantage of our ‘friends and family’ workshop option. The ladies made some striking coil-pots which will be fired, glazed and ready for collection from Eastnor Pottery in a few weeks time.

ruby wedding pottery workshop celebration at eastnor pottery herefordshireWe do our fair share of pottery hen parties here at Eastnor Pottery, but I think this is the first time we’ve hosted a Ruby Wedding celebration.

John and Hilary, who’s anniversary it was, organised a weekend get together in Herefordshire with some of their friends – two couples of which were also celebrating 40 years of marriage in 2011!

The group hailed from Shropshire and hired a cottage near Bromyard as a base from which to launch their activity trips.

They spent three hours at the Pottery sampling the potter’s wheel and making coil pots. An amicable and competitive bunch, they split up into girls & boys teams – the men excelled at the hand building whilst the women outplayed the lads on the wheels!

Pottery Hand-building Taster Sessions, Eastnor Pottery, HerefordshireMary and friends dropped by the Pottery last week to sample our one and a half hour hand-building taster session.

Once the ladies were settled in and sorted for tea and fresh coffee, they were treated to a coilpot demonstration. Although it is an age old, simple technique, we suggest a variety of approaches and creative interpretation. On this occasion, the participants decided to make personalised mugs – and very striking they were too!

The groups masterpieces will be fired, glazed and ready for collection in a few weeks time.

If you fancy a go yourself, then please contact the pottery (Tel 01531 633886, or email admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk to book your session. Places cost £20 and there’s no minimum order – so you could even come on your own if you so wished!

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of hosting a pottery hen party for a group of girls from North Wales.
As the gang had been ‘celebrating’ the previous evening, a calm and gentle activity was sought to soothe tired heads and weary souls! Making and painting coil-pots at Eastnor Pottery provided the perfect solution.
To view the marvellous creations the women made, please take a look at the Facebook album we’ve created.
