Early Years Event At CBSOSpent a stimulating and inspiring day at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra last Friday.

This was the third and final in a short series of reflective workshop days set up in partnership with St Thomas Children’s Centre and supported by Bright Space. It was attended by early years artists, educators and arts organisations who are passionate about creative learning for 0-6 years olds and their families.

I was fortunate enough to present on aspects of my practice as well as facilitating a practical clay session in the afternoon.

In the morning, Pete Wynne-Wilson and Peppy Hills, both experienced creative practitioners, led a vibrant and inspiring discussion/presentation on best practice in early years, which somehow resulted in delegates dressing up in clothes made from newspaper!Early Years Event at CBSO

Although a lot of our pottery hen parties take place here in the main studio at Eastnor Pottery, we regularily deliver sessions in another venues.

Back in January, The Flying Potter rolled up at Hardwick House with all the clay, tools and materials the ladies would be likely to use. We all spent a fun afternoon creating coil-pot sculpture and individual mugs.

corporate hospitality at its best. a pottery participant with his splendid coil pot made at eastnor potteryWild Wood Rooms got in contact with us to arrange a breakout activity for one of their clients.

The management team regularly meet up in Worcester for group meetings. These events usualy take place over a couple of days and the organisers like to introduce a fun and stimulating activity to break-up the boardroom exercises.

At 5pm, the team, 16 members in total, decended on the Pottery for an evening of clay fun & creativity. They made some fantastic coil pots which were painted there and then in a range of bright & colourful slips.

We’ll fire and glaze their masterpieces in time for distribution at the next team meeting.
