We had great fun working with delegates and companies at the Business expo 2017 organised by The Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce at The Three Counties Showground in Malvern.
Visitors and exhibitors didn’t need to be asked twice if they’d like to have a go on the wheel and at certain times, participants were queuing up to tackle the clay.
The juxtaposition of a muddy potter’s wheel in amongst the suits, glamour and business paraphernalia makes for a super photograph – as you can see, we took quite a few….
Well, to the Pottery anyway!
Yr1 visited us in March and spent the day making a collaborative flowerpot and individual works inspired by the illustrative genius Julia Donaldson
Julia’s characters are a gift to reproduce in clay and the youngsters from Winterfold House School were soon creating characters from The Gruffalo, Room On The Broom and The Smartest Giant in Town.
The unseasonably good weather meant we were able to host our first pottery hen party of 2017 in our fabulous Potting Tent marquee on the Pottery garden lawn.
The girls had so much fun taking turns on three potter’s wheels making a ‘dazzling’ array of jugs, pots and plates. We’ll now fire and glaze the creative output in good time for the wedding in June.
If you’ve got an event or family celebration coming up, and quite like the look of The Potting Tent, then give us a call or drop us a line Tel 01531 633886 firstname.lastname@example.org
Children’s Hands – on Pottery Sessions in the Easter Holidays
Spring into Sculpture
Wed 19 April 2017
We are delighted to announce details of our fun & creative children’s pottery workshop sessions scheduled for the approaching school holiday.
‘Spring into Sculpture’ provides the theme for some seasonally inspired clay modelling fun.
Young pottery enthusiasts will sample a range of pottery making techniques when they construct their sculpture. They will roll out long thin snakes of clay and layer them on top of one another to make the main structure – this is an ancient technique called coiling, recently featured on BBC2’s Great Pottery Throw Down programme.
The children will then explore the pinch pot technique to make a Spring inspired fluffy chick, wee lamb or baby rabbit to sit proudly on top of their coil pot creation.
The resulting artworks will be fired, glazed and ready for collection from the Pottery approx. three weeks following the workshops.
1.5 hr sessions commence at 11.30am (4-8yrs) and 2pm (9-12yrs) although, these age ranges are not strictly policed as younger and older siblings are always welcome on either session.
Places cost £15 per head with a 10% discount for x3 or more places booked. Telephone and email booking essential: Tel: 01531 633886 e: email@example.com
We enjoyed working with this young family, particularly the birthday girl who made a fantastic clay bowl on the potter’s wheel. The concentration on her face as she used the banding wheel and paintbrush combo to decorate her masterpiece…
