One of our pottery workshop participants owns this lovely foot powered potters wheelThis photo was sent in from one of the participants who took part on the February potter’s wheel workshop. The lovely old kick wheel sits at home, in the garden, used only when the elements allow – fare weather potting for sure! Still, it’s greatly admired for its ornamental quality through-out the winter months.

All the February workshop participants either owned a wheel or had access to one – which is a rarety in itself as the majority of would be potters have very little prior experience of working on the potters wheel. All used the opportunity to fine tune thier skill and pick up a few handy tips. The potter’s wheel is most definately a ‘riding a bike’ thing and once you’ve done a bit, mechanical memory takes hold. The results were amazing as you might expect. Photos from the day here.
